With this issue, after 14 years, Wendy V's Local Blend comes to a close. 

I started out writing a long, convoluted explanation as to why I made the decision. But, I decided on the short version. Over the last five years, I've moved on to other artistic interests outside the scope of the original intent of Local Blend. These pursuits have been taking up most of my time and focus. So, honestly, this newsletter turned blog hasn't of late really served much of the purpose it was originally intended for. But I like to think that in its prime, it helped do the work I set out to do when I first moved to the Twin Cities 17 years ago.

You may notice other changes on my websites. I have also let go of a few things that frankly just have not been working. I will, however, continue to write. Both www.wendyv.com and www.embraceencouragement.com will continue as websites. www.wendyv.com will remain a resource for musicians and I will try to keep the coffeehouse, listing, artist gig page website links and other resource sections updated as long as people use them and current information is available to me. I will also be developing a new music/arts related blog where I will share thoughts and recommendations that reflect where my interests are at this point.

Embrace Encouragement will continue to be used to share my message of the importance of encouragement through my monthly e-zine "Wendy V's Encouraging Words."  "Radio Regulars" will also continue (though mainly with the opinions and insights, and less as a news source).

I came to the conclusion that being a simple fan and encourager is what I do best and is what still works. For many, all I ever had to do was show up and smile. As I enter my 50's I am now more of a hermit than a coffeehouse-hopper. But when I do show up, I'll still be smiling.
