Fan Musings: An Introduction To The Series
Being a fan of somebody has been a big part of my life for most of my life. That covers over 40 years (as much as I'm willing to admit to publicly). I've also written much over the years about the joys and sorrows of being a fan. My intention was to write a book. You might think that with over 40 years of fandom, I'd have enough to say to fill a couple of hundred pages. Well, I didn't really. So, I opted for a different, more flexible format. Instead, I ended up with a CD audiobook, called "Treasures In the Tip Jar: The Art of Awesome Fan Support". Parts of a few earlier essays I wrote on various topics on fandom found their way to the audiobook.
Now, what happens sometimes when you do a project like a book or audiobook is you end up with additional thoughts on topics that you either didn't think of at the time or occur to you after the fact. Also, I thought some of those essays perhaps needed a little more fleshing out or updating, or put in a place where some people who haven't seen them might do so. Here's where this series comes in. A few of the essays have a spiritual slant to them because they were originally written for a Christian audience. Others have been tweaked or updated a little to keep them fresher.
So, happy reading. And if you feel led, happy listening, too.
