Catching up

Sorry so silent...I've been busy preparing to launch a new venture which you will hear more about soon on the website.

I just want to briefly revisit a few topics I talked about lately:

- "Showstoppers" with Rachael Kroog played to two standing ovations at the Schneider Theater in the Bloomington Center for the Arts. Being consistently committed to a dream and being willing to invest in it pays off. You can read the reviews here. The show heads to Florida in mid-March.

- 89.3 The Current did very well in the latest MPR fund drive, its library and playlist is growing. I've even bought a couple of CDs off of listening to the station. I've particularly been pleased with the airplay that good old soul music gets on The Current, ranging from classics by Willie Hightower and Bettye Swann to present purveyors like Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings. I continue to encourage a mix of genres over an alt-rock emphasis--and leave the Morning Show as it is!!

Once March straightens out weather wise, I will be visiting the coffeehouses again. So far I did check out what's becoming one of the hottest neighborhood gigs in town, when you can catch "Scherer Loonacy" (Bill Scherer and Mike Loonan) at the Bean Factory in St. Paul. Barring any last minute changes I will make a trip to Fargo the first week of April. If anyone has any suggestions for where to check out live music up there on April 1, let me know.

Till next time ... Wendy
